Our pets came out to say goodbye as we left on our trip. Our first stop was Gracemere woolworths car park for morning tea. Mum and Dad taught us that shopping centre car parks were a good place for morning tea.

We came accross a free camp at Duaringa at lunch time, it was so nice we thought we would stay the night untill we met a lady while eating lunch who suggested we go to bedford Weir just outside Blackwater. A beautiful free camp where David cooked our steaks on the webber.

28th August 2012
We left Bedford Weir early and headed to Emerald where David was sure he could visit Mike Vercoe after we drove around and around and finally I got the Tom Tom to work we found he was not due to get there until mid September. We stopped at Bogantungan for morning tea which was in the middle of nowhere. David saw an old grave and walked off to explore leaving me making the cup of tea and I was a little worried when another vehicle pulled up and I was on the side of the road with David out of sight. He did come back and all was fine. Our lunch stop was Jerrico and the birds decided they wanted to share our lunch. David went wandering again and found Jerrico has a drive in picture threatre still operating.
We went on to Barcaldine where we booked into the caravan park that we stayed at with Mum and Dad on our Karumba trip. We were invited to billy tea at the camp kitchen at 4pm and we met some people who were in Mareeba at the Christmas in July dinner that Aunty Louise was at. After we had our dinner we decided to walk in to the main street, we were not sure how far but as we were walking home it said 1k to the caravan park. It was a fruitfull walk as I found a patchwork shop amongst the 11 hotels and just lucky were decided to stay two nights as I can go check it out tomorrow.
