The craft group enjoyed the Christmas pot mitt swap and I always enjoy swaps. I have organised a luggage tag swap for them for Jan/Feb and wrote my thoughts on swaps.
Swaps:
I think you need to go into any swap
with the idea you may not get back the same as you give. For me I do swaps
because I love to see other people’s interpretation on a theme. We each have
different skill levels and some of us have higher standards of our own work.
Sometimes I have received things that don’t meet my standard – what it has
taught me is acceptance and appreciation. Someone has put their time and love
into it and I need to receive it with love and appreciation without judgement.
One challenge I did being mug rugs I did not receive mine at all but I had the
opportunity of making the swap and then sharing that idea with others giving
them a piece of fabric and a challenge to make a mug rug and the pleasure for
me was seeing their creation.
Swaps give me
*a
purpose
*a
reason
*the chance to do something for
someone else
*the chance to try something new –
it maybe something you have done before that you can give a new slant
to.
I Love your attitude on swaps. Very nice post.
